The purpose of the shopping website that I visited is to provide detailed information and pictures to the interested buyers. It also have comparison between the products and there will also be reviews from previous buyers.

What I had learnt today is that there is a few ways to convey information and each of them have its own Pros and Cons. So it is important to go to the correct place to find the information that I am looking for.

Second week~

This week during EIR , I chose the topic, discuss the causes and effects of tsunamis on society. The reason I chose this is because it is interesting and after the 2004 tsunami, the need to understand tsunami had increase especially for those living near to coastal areas so the tragedy will not happen again. After choosing the topic, I was asked to search the internet for information and categorize them into organisational website, blog, magazine and discussion forum. So in the process of searching for them I realised the Pros and Cons of each of them.

For the Organisational websites, the information that they provide are very elaborated and sometimes they will include pictures to aid in the understanding of their topic. The information provided here are usually reliable as the organisation have a reputation to keep.
However, sometimes the information and terms that they provided and used are too difficult to understand.

For the Blogs, the information that they provide are not as elaborated as the organisational website but it gives a different opinion and views about that certain topic. It is useful if another view of that subject is needed for the research that you are doing.
However, sometimes the information that the blog provides may be too biased and inaccurate.

For the Magazine, the information that they provide will zoom into a certain group of people and it is very detailed in that area that it is zooming into.
However, for example, the topic that talk about business will contain alot of business analogies that people whom are not businessmen will find it hard to understand.

For the discussion forum, the information that forums provides are mostly opinion and speculation but the difference in their views sometimes give two sides of the story which can make it clear which one is right and wrong.
However, the information that forums provide is are vague and it takes alot of time to check through the entire posts to find the one that you are looking for.

So in my opinion, I will trust the organisation website more as they provide more up-to-date information then the other categories. And if I am needed to find different in views I will go and search for blogs even though they are not as up-to-date but it is not as time consuming as discussion forum which can take a long time to get what you want.
